I've heard that surgery and other treatments for leiomyosarcoma are not usually successful. Why is that? Are there any treatments that are usually successful for this disease?

I was diagnosed in March 2008 with stage III leiomyosarcoma and had a total hysterectomy which removed all the visible disease. I then had 6 months of adjuvent chemotherapy. After that I had a set of CT scans to look for the disease, there was none. My doc said I was in remission (no evidence of disease), which is a good as it gets at this point. I now see my doc every three months for follow up. It hasn't been long, but I've recovered from the chemo side effects and I live disease free and try not to worry too much about it coming back.
