Sometimes they spread and can press on nerves and organs, causing problems such as pain or trouble breathing. spindle cell sarcoma: A cancerous tumor of the smooth muscle, where the cells are elongated, resembling a spindle. stages and prognosis for leiomyosarcoma:
subcutaneous leiomyosarcoma: Commonly located on the thigh. These are larger lesions and grow rapidly. Recurrence occurs in 50 percent to 70 percent of cases. Distant metastasis to lung, liver and bone occur in about 50 percent cases.
